Waterfront living on Solomons Island comes with one big challenge: flood risk. For this project, we tackled it head-on — lifting the entire cottage out of the flood plain and setting it on new footers and a new foundation, protecting the home (and the owner's investment) for decades to come.

With the structure safely elevated, we renovated the cottage from top to bottom, inside and out. The interior was completely reimagined with a new kitchen, new bathroom, new bedroom, and an open living space crowned with cathedral ceilings that make the cottage feel far larger than its footprint.

Outside, we built the home to stand up to the Chesapeake climate with premium, low-maintenance materials: new Andersen windows, Hardie board siding, and CertainTeed shingles. A maintenance-free walkway to ground level completes the project, providing safe, easy access to the elevated home without the upkeep of traditional wood construction.
